Clemens, MI. Robert owned and operated R.F. McLaughlin and Associates in Rochester, Michigan. He is survived by his beutiful wife of 52 years, Shirley Jean McLaughlin, whom he married October 22, 1960 in Royal Oak, MI as well as his awesome children and wonderful son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Connie David Code and Robert Gail McLaughlin. He is also survived by 4 spectacular grandchildren, Derek Code, Shana Code, John McLaughlin and Vanessa McLaughlin. His family says "He loved to spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida with Shirley but his favorite was spending time with his kids and grandkids, barbequeing, birthdays, conversation and sports. He loved golfing and it was a lifelong passion. It started as a young boy, proceeded to high school where he received a letterman jacket, then up to Lexington on weekends with friends and family followed by a private membership at Gowanie Golf Club and, lastly, at Selfrige Golf Course with lifelong friend Richard Hanna. His second love was hot-rodding and fixing up cars. He was a skilled auto mechanic, restoring many cars for himself, family and close friend, Henry Seitz. Two of his most memorable cars were a 1971 Dodge Challenger for his son and a 1960 Corvette he totally restored and was so nice it was in a movie. He was also a great bowler with Multipal 300 games and was on the famous "Bowling for Dollars". He was also into making model boats. He was extremely proud of all the kids and grandkids and was a caring husband, amazing dad, great father-in-law and a tremendous grandpa. He was the most patient, caring, kind and forgiving man to everyone he met."
