Mark Alan Baars, a man with an adventurous spirit and loving heart, died on February 21, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on a bright summer day, June 21, 1957, in St Clair, Michigan, to Vern and Joan Baars, Mark's early years in Richmond laid the foundation for a life brimming with adventure and a deep connection to his roots. Mark's journey through life was as vibrant and spirited as the man himself. A proud graduate of Richmond High School, he devoted his professional career to the noble cause of environmental stewardship as a wastewater plant manager. His commitment to safeguarding our waterways was a testament to his deep-seated respect for nature and the great outdoors. Retirement in 2020 marked the beginning of a new chapter for Mark, filled with the joys of exploration and the freedom of the open road. Alma became not just a place of residence but a launching pad for countless adventures. Camping under the stars, fishing in the quiet early morning, boating on crystal clear lakes, and hunting in the lush forests of Michigan were the activities that fueled his soul. Yet, it was perhaps atop one of his beloved Harleys, with the wind in his face and his friends by his side, that Mark felt most at home. An active ABATE of Michigan motorcycle group member, he shared his passion for biking with a close-knit community that became like family. Mark's legacy is carried on through his brothers, Greg (Chris) Baars and Kevin (Sue) Schultz who will forever cherish the memories of his larger-than-life presence. His spirit is reunited with his beloved sisters, Debbie Esper and Kelly Schultz, in a realm beyond our own. A private ceremony at Saint Michael Cemetery in Richmond, Michigan, will see Mark laid to rest, surrounded by the landscapes he loved so dearly. In remembering Mark, we are reminded of the beauty of living life to the fullest, embracing the call of adventure, and the importance of leaving a positive mark on the world and the people around us.
